Solar powered baking for German bread company

Germany-based bakery and confectionery company Seßelberg-Betriebs-KG, located in the northern town of Neustadt/Holstein-Ostsee, has begun operations at two on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) plants with a total output of 99.5 KWe located on the roofs of its administrative buildings and baking facilities.

The systems (pictured) produce around 81 MWh a year from around 400 Q CELLS modules, with the plant constructed by installation company dibu energie.

Commenting, owner Andreas Seßelberg says, ‘For me, it’s about energy optimisation and about making baked goods using the energy of the sun. We save 25% of the electricity costs in the long run.’

‘With power from their own PV plant, the electricity costs of energy, commercial and industrial enterprises are dropping for the long term, noted Michael Geib, Hanwha Q CELLS’ Head of Sales for the DACH region.
